We are simple people who like simple things: great teas and great coffees paired with great food.

We are Toby and Beth McKechnie and we opened McKechnies in March 2007 after deciding that working in an office was not for us anymore. We wanted to live a more ‘real’ life, doing something that we genuinely believed in and had a passion for.

So here we are. And here are our teas, coffees and locally-produced foods. We think you’ll like them.

Nothing in McKechnies is just ordinary or just average...

McKechnies independent tea and coffee bar is fiercely independent and we believe that to compete with the chains we have to offer something truly different.

Kate (former Manager), Toby, Beth and Kim

Everyone who works at McKechnies is dedicated to producing excellent food and drink and to making sure that our customers are happy.

Our Manager is Jo who is supported by Kim, our Assistant Manager. Jo and Kim work tirelessly to ensure our coffee is perfect and that the place runs like clockwork.

Kim is also a top barista, having recently won the Best Cappuccino in the Midlands & North heat of the UK Barista Championships.

Jane, Ryan and Danny work mostly during the week to make sure that all the drinks we make are top quality and that our food is always beautifully presented.

Kasia and Emily work mainly at weekends when the pace can be fast and furious but standards are as high as ever.
